Abstract
Objective : This study was designed to analyze the contents and trends of pharmacopuncture treatments on drug-induced osteoarthritis.

Methods : Eight related and available articles were selected through KISS and RISS. They were analyzed on the points of herbs, osteoarthritis-inducing drugs, used animals, Treated acupoints and results of researches.

Results : Seven single-herb and one formula pharmacopunctures were treated on rats which are of SD, DBA and Wistar. Inducing drugs were MIA. FA and Collagen. Treated-acupoints were ST36 in 6 articles, BL23 in 1 article and ST35 in2 articles. Results showed first, physical and histopathological results like weight loss, decrease of weight bearing, increase of reaction time and force intensity against allodynia, second, significant reduction of cytokine such as IL-17, IL-21, IL-6, TNF-¥á, etc., third, decrease of another index like COX-1/2, AST/ALT, and IgG/IGM. These results suggest pharmacopuncture treatments are curative on drug-induced osteoarthritis, However, few formula pharmacopunctures, treatments on 2~3 acupoints only, inappropriate application of Freund`s Adjuvant, and natural Limit of animal study (doubt of applicability to human) may be arguable or critical points.

Conclusion : These articles are meaningful in that they have demonstrated the effectiveness of herb pharmacopuncture. Further studies to test the applicability to human are needed.
